Doe River
11" X 15"
Watercolor
What inspired me to paint this was the bright light of the afternoon sun through the trees on the Doe River. This painting shows my brushstrokes and impressionist style up close, but when you stand back, it transforms into a photorealism. Pretty awesome, but I have no idea how I made that happen. This was a small rushing stream coming out of the Appalachian Mountains that hushed me to sleep each night while I was camping at Roan Mountain State Park, Tennessee. Sometimes, when I look at this painting, I can still hear that rushing water. I loved that place!
